Carley and Joshua met on the BFI Creative Producers Talent Lab and knew they were meant to be in partnership together, forming True Moon Pictures to realise their storytelling visions.
Joshua Oliver
Co-Founder / Executive Producer
Joshua Oliver holds a masters degree in screenwriting from the Royal Holloway University of London. He has directed in many areas of creative production for the screen, including documentary, commercial branded content, factual entertainment TV and short form narrative drama. He was behind the creation of the tv format 'Are You Talkin' To Me?', a pilot for a biographical movie factual entertainment TV series, described as a desert island discs but for film. In the last few years he has recently embarked on a social video art journey under the artist moniker Red Jay. His debut project Human Weighted Blanket on pandemic related mental health decline led to gaining national media attention and becoming a fellow at the National Film Board of Canada, a country he shares dual citizenship with. He followed this up with a project on religious corruption in London this year and is now working towards his next project on the privatisation of the NHS, due to be released in time for the organisations 75th anniversary in 2023. Joshua is also a film tutor on the books at the Met Film School in Leeds and SAE Institute in London, where he teaches writing, development and producing.
Carley Armstrong
Co-Founder / Executive Producer
Carley Armstrong is a northern screenwriter and producer who has over 25 years’ experience in the Television, Film and Theatre. She studied Media Production TV, Radio and Film at the University of Sunderland, where she attained a first class degree. During her time here she won ‘Best Drama’ at the Sparkies awards for producing the film ‘Chimera’. She previously produced and completed other short films including Only Human, Captive, Enough and Growing Old. Carley recently re-wrote of an episode of Boiling Point for the BBC. She has production credits in script supervision for the likes of Paramount, Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, Marvel, DC FILMS, World Productions, Mammoth Screen, Amazon Prime & Netflix to name a few. She has done further writing for Made Up Productions and Ascendant fox and went on to be nominated as an RTS Rising Star nominated Producer. Carley has recently worked and collaborated with actors such as Tom Cruise, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Adam Driver, Diane Wiest, Kevin McNally, Cathy Tyson, Simon Pegg, Stephen Graham and Henry Cavill to name a few.
